- Portal launches ‘rush-o-meter’ to predict sellout time of train tickets
- The chances of getting a confirmed ticket on a long-distance mail or express train may improve, if a new feature being rolled out by a travel portal claiming to predict the sellout time of available tickets proves to be accurate.
- The feature, rush-o-meter, predicts the sellout time of available tickets using historic data, booking rate and deep-data analysis.
- For example, if there are 43 seats left on a particular train, the feature will tell you the hours/days by which these seats be sold out, determined based on the booking rate (speed) of this train.
- On high-demand ‘supersonic’ trains, tickets get sold out within the first 12 hours. Trains on which tickets get sold out within 6-7 days are called ‘subsonic’ trains. Also, there are trains for which tickets are available for much longer, and these are ‘chuk chuk’ trains.

- Bringing relief to parents beset by frequent and arbitrary increases in school fees, a government commission is likely to suggest a 10% yearly cap on the fee hike permissible by private, unaided schools, with provisions for penalties in case of violations.
- Although fixing school fees is the domain of state governments, in the absence of a standard fee policy for unaided schools, there has been a growing clamour for central regulations.
- India has 350,000 private, unaided schools — 24% of all schools — where 75 million children, or 38% of all students, study. Such schools do not receive any grant from the government and have to generate their own revenue for sustenance.
