KERALA

Willow Warbler was Seen in Kerala

The Willow Warbler was seen for the first time in the Vellayani-Punchakkari rice fields in Kerala, India.

These rice fields are a bird-watching hotspot on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram.

More than 213 species of birds are known to be inhabited, including settlers and migrants.

Willow is one of the longest migrating small birds.

This bird weighs about 10 grams, and its long wing feathers help it fly long distances.

Because of its small size and changing feathers twice a year, it is generally difficult to identify Warblers.

They are also the most difficult group of birds to identify in the field because of the striking similarities between them.

Lidar Survey Technique Adopted By National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited

The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited will be adopting Light Detection, and Ranging Survey (LiDAR) technique using Laser enabled equipment mounted on a helicopter for conducting a ground survey for the preparation of the detailed project report for the proposed Delhi-Varanasi HSR corridor.

This is for the first time that the aerial LiDAR survey technique is being adopted for any railway project in India.
